Sunshine Citrus & Berry Blast

Ingredients

  • 1 large orange (approx. 200g), peeled and segmented
  • 150g mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries – fresh or frozen)
  • ½ medium banana (approx. 60g)
  • 1–2 cm fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 120ml unsweetened almond milk or water (adjust for desired consistency)
  • A small handful of spinach (optional)

Preparation time

Servings

Method

  • Add all ingredients to the blender jug of your Bargain Shack blender.
  • Start on a low speed, then gradually increase to high.
  • Blend until completely smooth and creamy, usually 30–60 seconds depending on your model.
  • If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more liquid (10–20ml at a time) through the lid opening, and blend again.
  • Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.

Serving Suggestion

Serve in a chilled glass with a sprinkle of extra chia seeds or a few fresh berries on top. For a more filling option, add a scoop of protein powder or a spoonful of Greek yoghurt before blending. Great as a quick breakfast, afternoon refresher, or post-workout drink.

Tips & Hints to Improve Your Smoothie

  • For a thicker, frostier texture, use frozen berries straight from the freezer.
  • For extra creaminess, consider swapping the almond milk for 150g of Greek yoghurt or ¼ of an avocado.
  • Add 20–25g of protein powder or 1 tablespoon of nut butter for a more filling smoothie.
  • Increase the ginger to 3 cm or add the zest of half an orange for extra flavour.
  • Soak the chia seeds in the liquid for 5–10 minutes before blending for smoother results.
  • Make it ahead and store in a sealed bottle in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake or re-blend briefly before drinking.
